My Wish for You

I wish you many rainbows and the crock of gold,
joy, you never knew existed,
all wrapped up in real love that never will grow old,
and pride that you have persisted.

May no negative vibrations touch your special year,
the twentieth mile, with no wall,
obstacles overcome without envy or fear,
now starts the great race of all.

Elemental

Not of mother or father was she created,
untarnished entity of the universe;
no she was made from the fire of pain,
baptised in tears,
and the wisdom, whispered in the wind;
from the delicate orbs of dewdrops
and the resilience of  a desert flower;
the scent of a summer rose
added to the purity of virgin snow
and gentle rain that enchanted

Only Now

evening gloom suits my mood,
rain beats softly against the window,
wistfully wondering why
life unfolded as it did;

tears fall, mourning lost opportunity,
time wasted with unwanted events,
idle acceptance of occurrences,
added to futile attempts to escape
inevitable happenings.

my tears drop on seeds of hope,
love's comfort surrounds me,

20th Mile

Lost in the crowd,
he runs as he was instructed,
determined to succeed
so they would be proud.

Heart beats in tandem with footfalls,
he breaks away from the group,
automatically running,
but new thoughts invade.

The cheering crowd can no longer be heard,
but still he runs,
programmed to finish,
to earn the laurels.

The Cure

I went to the doc, feeling a bit down,
with difficulty trying to get sleep,
he nodded and looked at me with a frown,
and commented that I looked in a heap.

I sat waiting for the diagnosis,
he said it was chemical depression,
alarmed, I asked about the prognosis,

Teddy lady

contentment raised the corners of her lips into a smile
in the darkening evening;
love and a feeling of well-being washed over her,
radio murmured in the background,
needles clicked as a toy grew
each stitch knitted with yarn and love.
and instilled a personality into her labours.
bright strings of colour take shape before her eyes,

Shower of Clowns

I started to write about a shower of rain,
thinking about the weather,
but that made me stop and start to write again,
and rethink altogether.

It reminded me of the collective nouns,
as in a murder of crows,
or a gaggle of geese and a shower of clowns,
and so the idea grows.

How about a deception of politicians,
or an invoice of lawyers,

One by One

On the eleventh minute of the eleventh day of the eleventh month,
the angel numbers come into alignment,
in rows of ones, the little white crosses march
on a now-stilled battlefield,
and the war is declared over.

Yet those heroes still march
in brutal, bloody battlefields,
thoughts of home come into their heads,
as faces of loved ones smile on them,
one by one by one,
